ABC Emotions Challenge Z : Zombies, Zippy

Today is the very last post in the ABC Emotions Challenge 52 week series. It has been a long road, that I am very grateful you have decided to share with me. I recommend for everyone to start the ABC Emotions Challenge and follow through. If you haven't already. I know some letters are harder to complete than others. However, it can be done. Doing this challenge has helped me to face some emotions I was holding in. Now they are no longer destroying me or my relationships. It feels so good to know how far I have come addressing my emotions. To finish the last leg in the series, I am going to write about the letter 'Z". Many people think the letter "Z" is hard to do, as there isn't many words to choose from. However, I find the letter "Z" rather easy to complete.

Halloween is coming soon

With Halloween coming up fast. I thought of writing about zombies. My friends and family knows Halloween holds a special place in my heart. As Halloween is the day my boyfriend and I got together. This year will be '4 fabulous years'.

Halloween Surprise

©rusty2rusty Moose the Chug

Halloween is also the day my Chug named Moose was born. What's a Chug you ask? A Chug is a designer dog which is a Pug and Chihuahua mix. Moose was a delight and a surprise. As I had rescued his mom from a pet flipper. With in a couple of weeks. Moose and his siblings were born behind my couch. Moose is one of the smartest dogs I have ever owned.

Zippy Zombies

Another thing I love about Halloween are all the Zombie movies and tv shows that comes out. Some are gory, some are funny, some scare me. One of my favorites is the tv show found on AMC is "The Walking Dead. It comes back on October 8th. I can't wait to the next season starts. Last Sunday, a spin off of The Walking dead started called The Fear of the Walking Dead. It is suppose to basically explain how the zombie apocalypse began and spread. When I watch zombie movies, I get zippy. I turn all the lights off to make the scare more real. I am ready for action. Just in case one day a zombie pops through my tv screen.I prepare myself to be zippy. I have to be alert, bouncy, quick, and energetic. That is what zippy means. How else am I going to get away from the zombies?

My Son Got Caught Stealing

I have got  a late start in writing anything today. Or getting anything done on the internet. As this morning was spent at the juvenile courthouse and probation office. As my son had court for stealing at a local grocery store. he has never been in trouble like this before. His older brother has. Maybe he is a bad influence. I am not sure where this is coming from.

I am very angry that my teen son stole something. I can't believe he did it. I am coming to grips that my teen son isn't the person I thought he was. I have always trusted whatever he said. That trust is broken. He must earn it to get it back.

He normally is a good kid. I believe he made a stupid stupid mistake. I don't think he should be branded as a thief. As he only did it once. Only time will tell if he can truly fix his mistake and earn trust back. That choice is up to him.

My son is normally a laid back AB student who loves playing sports. Takes honors classes because he wants to a lawyer / prosecutor when he grows up. I really never thought my teen son would be the child to be arrested and charged with stealing. His older brother yes. His younger sister, maybe. But not him. Never him.

I asked him why he did it. I received short responses that never really answered my question. I went on to tell him. If he waited a week he would of made $20 in allowance. Plus, his birthday is coming up in Oct. I would of bought him what he took. If he would of asked for them. I made him think. I think he felt bad. As he started crying. He knew he left me down. I went on to ask him when times were tough, did he ever see me steal something I wanted or needed? He said no. I asked him again why he did it. No answer.

Well, today was court. My teen son decided to opt of a trail and pleaded guilty to get it done and over with.

His sentence :
1. 30 days jail suspended
2. Probation til June
3. 40 hours of community service.
4. Write an apology letter to the place he got caught stealing
5. Curfew at 6 pm.
6. Random drug tests (he got one today and was clean).
7. Random home visits. Where the probation officer has the right to check every room in our own. Even mine.
8. Pay $75 court cost.
9. Not allowed in the place of business he stole from.

These are my requirements :
1. Grounded him to his room.
2. No phone or electronics.
3. No going anywhere without permission.
4. Must do extra chores to pay off the court costs.
5. No going to Cedar Point for his birthday next month.
6. No birthday party.

I can't remember if there was anything more. Everything was explained at the probation office. My head is twirling and I feel like I am going to puke. I did this whole song and dance with my oldest son while living in Florida. Three years in a row before I moved to Ohio. I don't want to it again. I really don't. Since, I have my teen son. I have no choice but to deal with his mess up. I don't want to believe my teen will do it again. To have him do something stupid and get arrested as soon as he gets off papers like his older brother did. The trust is gone. His choices will determine if he deserves my trust again.

ABC Emotions Challenge Y : Youth, young, yearn, yellow, yell

This week's letter for the "ABC Emotions Challenge" is the letter "Y". I can't believe how far I have come. I have almost completed this series. Next Friday will be completed. The letter "Y" is the 25th letter of the English language.

I don't have to many words to work with today to complete my challenge. So, I will use : youth, young, yearn, yellow and yell.

I look in the mirror and notice the wrinkles starting to form. My hair needing to be dyed again to hide my true age. It is getting harder to trap my youth. As my true age is wanting to show out more and more. I can not stop time. No matter hwo much I try.

©rusty2rusty
I yearn for the days of my youth. When I was young and free flowing. Didn't seem to have any cares in the world. I can't keep up with my young and beautiful daughter. She is to fast for me. I remember when she was little and would yell,"Wait up." Now it is my turn to ask her to wait. As we climb the stairs. As we seek out to see who she has for teachers in her first year of highschool.

©rusty2rusty

Do I like getting older, nope not for one bit. How when I was young did I wish I was of age to go out and experience the world. Now I wonder what I can still do. As I sit and watch the world go by. I dream of my youth, yesteryear, and what used to be.

©rusty2rusty
Luckily I can enjoy the beauty of a yellow sunflowers that are growing out back in my weed garden. They were planted a few years back. Each year seeds from the year before drop and continue to grow. Once a bountiful garden. Now sits as old and disabled as me. My children didn't take up gardening as I did. No help from them. Maybe next year I get hire someone to come out and help me re-generate my backyard to a more youthful state by bringing beauty back to my yard.

Happy National Dog Day!!

A Chihuahua mix named Rascal

This morning I signed in to Facebook to learn to is "National Dog Day". In celebration of dogs, it gave me an idea to write this blog. I plan to share dog photos with random dog trivia facts.

Dogs are smart creatures. They can understand up to 250 words and gestures. The average dog is as smart as a two year old.

A sign of dominance to a dog by another animal, is placing a paw or limb. A hug to us, is a sign of dominance to them.

A service dog knows what is trained to do. Do not try to pet or coax a service dog away from its duty.

The wetness of a dogs nose tells them which direction a smell is coming from.

Spiked dog collars were invented to prevent attacks in ancient Greece. Now they are used to make a dog look more powerful.

A dogs nose works one millions more times efficiently compared to human noses.

Female dogs are twice as likely to bite as male dogs.

There are over 700 types of pure breed dogs.

If dogs are not neutered or spayed, a pair of dogs and their offspring in six years can produce 66,000 pups. This is why spay and neutering is necessary if you are not a breeder.

Just like our human babies, Chihuahua are born with a soft spot on their head. It closes as the Chihuahua ages.

A dogs mouth can exert up to 200 pounds of pressure, depending on the breed.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post today. If you like my blog post, you are more than welcome to sign up to receive them through email. I update at least once a week on the subject of "Pets & Animals". No more than twice.

ABC Emotions Challenge X

Today's letter for the ABC Emotions Challenge is the letter "X". The letter "X" is the 24th letter in the English language. In Roman numerals, X is the number ten. I remember when I learnt about Roman numbers in school. I don't remember which grade I first heard about them. I do remember thinking it was fun counting with Roman numerals. It was hard for some kids to learn. It seem to come natural to me. For this I was allowed to help teach other kids how to count with Roman numerals.

When I was growing up, when I would write letters. Or send cards. I was taught to add XOXO at the end of each one. As XOXO meant hugs and kisses. X represented to mouths kissing. The letter O represents circling around one another to complete a hug. To bad not as many people write letters now a days. I always loved writing letters and receiving them. I use to have pen pals from all over the world.

Defiance Balloon Festival 2015

©rusty2rusty
My family and I was able to going to the local "Defiance Balloon Festival 2015". This was a two day event, all day long. My family was able to arrive as soon as the balloons were starting to take off.

Defiance balloon festival

It was really cheap to get in. It only cost $2.00 a person. It was held at a local airport. So, there was plenty of room for a huge crowd of people.

Food venue that over charges
There was plenty of food venues to visit. One place my family stopped to grab something to eat over charged us. I spoke up saying I thought it was more. The employee repeated the total. I told her I was charged for large drinks but you could clearly see I purchased small ones. She stuck to her price. Needless to say, next time I run in that food truck. I will avoid it. As i don't want over charged again.

firetruck

You were able to see a firetruck. kids could climb up in it. There was an old "Arps Dairy" milk truck and other vehicles on display.

Fire thrower

There were different acts going on through out the event. One was fore throwers. There were two guys performing. The guy in the picture was not any good. He kept dropping the stick he had on fire. The guy was very good at what he was doing.

My daughter and I
There were different businesses lined up under tents. They were selling jewelry, perfumes, products with balloons on them, and one lady was selling self protection for females. I already have a stun gun that looks like a cell phone. Otherwise I probably would of bought something. Her tent had the longest line. All in all we had a great time. It was fun to watch the events going on.

When was the last time you went to a local festival? What was it?

Spotted Donkey

One of the animals my family was able to see at the Columbus Zoo was the "Spotted Donkeys". They were kept in the petting part of the zoo.

Did you know a male donkey breeding with a female horse produces a "mule"? I did not til I did a little research. A male horse breeding with a female donkey produces a "Hinny". Either a mule or a Hinny is born sterile and unable to reproduce.

The "Spotted Donkeys" are a new arrival at the Columbus Zoo this year.I can see why. They are beautiful, small in size and easily approachable. The Spotted Donkeys had no problems coming up to the fence to be petted. When they were ready for attention from humans.

For a donkey to be considered to be a "Spotted Donkey". It has to have spots located above the knees or hocks and the neck below the throat latch. To produce a "Spotted Donkey", all you need is one parent to be a "Spotted Donkey". As a the gene is partial dominate in "Spotted Donkeys."

Donkeys were first brought to North America by Christopher Columbus back in the 15th century. Managed to arrive in Mexico in the 16th century, where the donkeys spread upwards and north throughout the United States.

It takes a donkey  to 12 - 14 months to carry its babies til they are born. Twins are possibly. Normally a donkey only produces one offspring at a time. A female donkey can breed at the age 3 -4 years old. Where a male can start reproducing at 1 1/2 - 2 years old. Foals are weaned between the months of 4 - 6.

Have you seen or petted a "Spotted Donkey" Before?

Birthday Choice : Columbus Zoo

Friday, my family visited the Columbus Zoo. It was in celebration for my daughter's 15th birthday.
She was allow to invite one friend to go with her. She was allowed to choose the destination with in a couple hours of where we lived. She choose the Columbus Zoo. As she has a love for animals. I think she gets that from me.

Thankfully the girls got along great. They were able to be their selves with no incidents. They had a blast posing on and around different exhibits.

Visiting the farm petting zoo was such a joy to my daughter. She had so much fun petting and being around the animals. It was hard to get her to move on. So, we could see the rest of the zoo. She loves animals.

It was sad to see the polar bear enclosure with no ice or snow. I know it isn't for another few months in Ohio before the snow comes. Those bears must of been really hot.

One of the exhibits in to the bear area, had displays of the height of varies bears. There was a brown bear that was taller than the polar bear. I really can't remember which bear was the tallest of them all. Any clues?

One of the ways the girls cooled off was going under one of the sprinklers around the zoo. I had to take this photo several times. As people would pay no mind to the lady trying to take a photo. As they photobombed the photos.

Many moments were comical. Such as the girls each posed for one of these pictures. I asked my daughter if she would of liked being punished like this, if she lived in those times. Being put on display in the center of town. She said," No, it makes my back hurt standing here and my feet."

Have you been to the Columbus Zoo? If not, you really don't know what a fun experience you are missing.

She Wants A White Delivery Driver - No Blacks.

I think the woman was scared. It doesn't make her racist because she is scared. What people fail to realize is, she is allowed to say who can come in to her home and who can't. No delivery service can force her to allow someone in her home she is scared of. No one should be forced to allow someone in their home they are afraid of if there is other alternatives available. Which there was in this case.

However, I do think that lady should have made that request when she placed and paid for her order. I think it was wrong for her to wait.

I like how a person suggested how it should have been handled. Instead of making a big thing about it hurting peoples feeling or possible offending them. Saying they canceled and sending someone else is what a good manager would have done.

To many people claiming racist without taking everything it to consideration, makes those who claim it look stupid, in my opinion. Everything isn't black and white. As for that lady, you have no clue why she refused a black person in her home. She could have been raped or something bad for her to do that. People need to have more compassion and understanding.
