Teriyiaki Chicken and A Crackhead

Photo taken by and © belongs to rusty2rusty. Taken while vacationing in Galveston, Texas.

One of the places my boy boyfriend, the couple we traveled with and myself stopped at was "Jack in the box". It was the first time I have ever been to one.
I had the Teriyiaki chicken rice bowl. It was a bowl with carrots, broccoli,and chicken served over a bed of rice with teriyaki sauce poured over the top. I loved it. Rating from a 1 to a 5. 5 being the best. I give it a 5. I had no complaints.
However, both the couple and my boyfriend had complaints about their meals. I don't remember what their reasons were anymore. I know they were not happy and did not eat the rest of their meal.
I am sure it didn't help knowing there was a crackhead man and woman sitting beside us. We could here them talking. As they were being loud. They were arguing if the man was going to get the girl some clothes. As he wanted to find a place to stay. As they were tired of going from place to place to sleep. He wanted to get his next fix and go to sleep. She wanted new clothes.
The couple got up before we were done. We had to walk past them. As they were sitting with another man who was passing them their next fix. Than proceeded to walk off with his woman and child down the street.
Have you ever ate at a Jack in the box? If so, what do you think of the food?
Have you went on vacation and encountered crackheads? Or seen one do a deal not caring if anyone seen them?

Some of my holiday theme photos

I had someone recently ask me how I make my holiday theme photos. I use various online photo editor and generators. One I really like to use for an assortment of templates is pho.to :

Here are some of the photos I created using recently :

I like this one because red is one of my favorite colors. Plus, I enjoy hearts.

This one has a place in my heart, as my boyfriend and I have wonderful memories at two different beaches on the Gulf of Mexico. In two different states, Texas and Florida.

I thought this would be a great photo for music lovers.

This one says it all. I am in a knights heart.

Check out the hearts, colors and design of this one.

If you checked out the link, you would notice that there are many more options to create such beautiful theme photos.

Eight After School Snacks

Photo  found on a free use photo sharing site called Pixabay.com.
School are back in session for many students. My children included. After school they have sports practice. By time they get home they are starving. Last night I had made some tollhouse back to school pre-made cookies. My kids loved them. They were a big hit. Anyone that knows me, knows I enjoy making fun foods and treats for my kids to eat. I am a also a member of pinterest where I get alot of my ideas from. So far, I have got a few ideas for fun foods or treats for me to try out on my kids this year. They are:

1. Squirmy, wormy apple snacks - Cut an apple in half, Take the core out, add peanut butter and a gummy worm.

2. Alphabet pudding - Use a little orange food coloring and add it to the pudding to make it look like the color of soup. Sprinkle with alphabet cereal. (This will work great for an April fool's joke as well)

3. Grape worms - Place them on a tooth pick or a shorten wooden skewer. Use chocolate chips for eyes. Can be attached by icing or honey. I think I will play around with these and see if I can use the string like licorice for attenna's. maybe make a caterpillar.

4. School bus twinkies - Since twinkies are making a come back. You can grab a twinkie. Cut 1/4 of the front corner off for front of bus. Than use different color of icing to decorate the twinkie like a bus. Use gummy life savers as the wheels. Attach by icing.

5. Back to School Snack Mix - In a bowl add in letter and number crackers. (I get mine at Kroger's. It is the Kroger brand), Pretzels shapes - the sticks for L's and the circle ones for O's. Cheeze it Junior Scramble crackers (has letters on them). Add some M&M's for the letter M. Lastly, mix in alphabet cereal. You can mix anything else that has letters or numbers to the mix.

6. Apple Pretzels - You cover the pretzel in a red chocolate. Just add red food coloring (if you can't find red frosting) and mix it in white frosting to you get your desired color. Use a brown tootsie roll for the stem. For a leaf, soften a green tootsie roll and shape in to a leaf.

7. Rolo Pencils - Take a roll of rolo's. Cover with yellow paper the color of a pencil. Add a hershey's kiss to one end for the lead tip. You can add some sort of candy the color of an eraser on the end by icing. Or use paper the color of an eraser. I prefer to use a candy. I really want to hand these out at Halloween.

8. Licorice pencil - Find yellow licorice, Dip end in chocolate icing after shaping tip in a point. Other end dip in red icing to look like the eraser.

What after school treats do you give your kids? I am always looking to add and improve my list.

7 Tips To Help Keep A Kitchen Clean

Photo from Pixabay.com a free use photo website.
I love to cook, bake and create in the kitchen. However, I hate walking into a kitchen and having to clean before I start. That is a pet peeve of mine. I am the type of person who cleans as I go when cooking, baking or creating in the kitchen. Here are a few tips I use to keep my kitchen clean :

1. I will have an item to place utensils on as I am cooking. So, they do not make the stove top dirty. Plus, it helps when cooking several different things. That part of it do not mix on the utensils.
2. If I make a mess or spill, I clean it up as I go. I find it alot easier to clean before the mess sets in and I have to scrub to get the dried up or caked on yuck up.
3. My fridge has those spill proof shelves. That catch leaks. I just pull one shelf out, clean and place back in. It is alot better than having the shelves where everything leaks through to the bottom. I always hated having to clean a whole fridge for one little spill.
4. While baking, I go through several dishes. When done using one, I will rinse it out and place in the sink as I go. It will make washing dishes alot easier. Less scrubbing and dried out caked on yuck!
5. I always keep my kitchen table cleaned off. My kids like to use it as a catch all. My kids have learned I will not cook without the table cleared.
6. When cleaning veggies, I have a sack or trash can right beside me. That way I have a place to put something I wish to throw out right away. Leaves for less clean up later.
7. I will prep what I can prior to any cooking or baking. This helps with clean up and getting what I accomplished earlier without trying to rush while I am cooking or baking.

Do you have to clean you kitchen before you start cooking? What is a pet peeve in the kitchen?

7 Myths About The Ladybug!

Photo from Pixabay.com
The other day while attending my sunflowers. A ladybug flew on my shoulder. I had my son place the ladybug back in my sunflower garden. But it came right back and sat on my shoulder. I am not sure what was attracting the ladybug to me. I was told by my oldest son that means luck when a ladybug land son you. So, I decided to do a web search. This is what I found out :

There are 150 species of Ladybugs in the United States. Until I did a little research. I had no idea there were so many. Ladybugs come in a ray of different colors. With a number of different spots.

There are many myths about the Ladybugs :

1. In Brussels and Burgundy, if a lady bug lands on. You count the spots and that is how many kids you will have.
2. many farmers around the world believe if a Ladybug has less than seven spots, they will have a good harvest.
3. Others believe if a ladybug land son, you count the spots and that is how many dollars you soon receive.
4.Swedens believe if a Ladybug is found crawling on the hand of a woman, it is measuring her hand for her wedding gloves.
5. Killing a Ladybug means bad luck. As it is related to the Virgin Mary.
6. Canadians believe when a ladybug is found wintering in their garage, it is an indication of good luck. They also hold the ladybug in their hands and make a wish. The direction at which the ladybug flies is known to be the direction from which your wish will come true.
7. Some people believe if a ladybug lands on you when you are sick, it flies away taking the sickness along with it.

There is also a children's nursery rhyme about Ladybugs. It evolved from the practice of burning crops at the end of the season. Supposedly, farmers would sing to warn the ladybugs to fly away, leaving harmful insect pests behind to be burned in the flames. I am not familiar with and have never of it.

Have you? Do you think the Ladybug brings luck or bad luck?

Keep Your Dog Safe from Deadly Treats

The thing the bugs me the most when people come over to my home, is the fact they think they can feed my Chugs anything. As dogs commonly do, they also beg. I hate the fact I have to put them in their cages when it is meal time. As the one Chug, Zues - I am fostering was fed anything by it's previous owner. Zues will knock your plate out of your hand if he think he can get the food. You place your food on the table, it disappears. You move your hand away from your body because you are actually taking a breathe in between bites or talking. The food disappears. People think they can walk in my house and feed my dog anything they are eating or any treat before asking. They are not the ones will have to pick up the mess when the Chugs get sick. I discourage human food being fed to my dogs.

Do you feed other peoples pets treats without permission?

The problem is not all food or treats are made the same. Some things my Chugs can not tolerate. It makes them sick. It really astounds me when a guest with feed my Chugs a treat. The Chugs get sick. Than claim," I don't know what happen. My dogs have no problem with those treats." I explain, "That's because these are my dogs not yours. They can not tolerate all treats. Next time ask the pet owner before serving their dog a treat."

Back in 2007, several pets lost their lives after consuming contaminated dog treats imported from China. At that time I had miniature pinschers named Max & Daisy. Max was given a treat that made him deathly sick. He did not die but had to rushed to an emergency vet. They were able to save him but not until the cost of his healthcare with in to the 1000's of dollars. I contacted the company that produced the treat my dog ate and made him sick. All they said was we have only had a couple of complains of our product. Pretty much they didn't care. Because all the other 10,000's pets who ate the treats weren't getting sick. Today, that treat has been removed from stores shelves. Only after a recall was issued after many more pets got sick or died. This all happened because production standards in other countries are often less strict as they are in the United States (such as China). I now look at where a treat is produced, not just packaged before I buy it. If it is not made in the United States. I do not buy it. I learned my lesson at the price of one of my dogs getting sick and running up an expensive bill.

Have you ever had a scare from feeding your pets treats?

There are two treats I will not give to my pets under any circumstances :

1. Rawhide Treats - Besides the potential of the treat breaking off and obstructing my pups airway. Rawhide go through a process, a chemical process where it is washed with degreasers, detergents, then sterilized in hydrogen peroxide. Not something I want my pups to eat.

2. Bully Sticks - bully sticks are made with the meat of the cow instead of the hide like Rawhide treats. So bully sticks are more easily digestible. But they are not made in the US.

What kind of treats do you feed your pets?

Would You Spend Eternity Next To Your Pet In A Pet Cemetery?

I was reading an article where in New York all state licensed pet cemeteries now allow humans to be buried with their pets. The only catch - The cemetary can't charge a fee and can not advertise for human burial. Plus, you must be cremated.

This got me thinking if it was available in my area if I would choose to do something like this. As I am an advid animal lover. The more I got to thinking about. The more I have decided I would never do it. Although I love my pets and would love to spend eternity with them. I don't want to be cremated. I have a fear of not really being dead, but medically everything says I am dead. Than being burned alive. Maybe I watched to many horror movies I don't know. But the idea of being cremated just scares the heck out of me. I know, I know. Ideally, I would be dead. So, it won't matter any ways.

Would you spend eternity next to your pet in a pet cemetery, if one was available in the area you lived?

Dandelion Tea Recipe

When I was little my Angel grandmother use to make dandelion tea all the time. She made it so much. I thought everyone's grandmother made it. My family would come over to visit my grandmother. First thing she would do is send us kids out to gather dandelions. I always had fun doing it. As the dandelion with the bright yellow colors were easily found through the yard.

I never knew to years later that dandelion tea has many uses. The one that really caught my attention was that it is used to help in the health of those suffering from Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. My Angel grandmother had type 1 diabetes. I just recently found out I am a type 2 diabetes. Dandelions helps with urine creation and to decrease swelling. Now I understand why she made it so much.

I got mom to look through grandma's old things. Luckily her dandelion tea was written down. Here it is :

Dandelion Tea
~~~~~~~~~~~~
1 cup boiling water
2 teaspoon dried dandelion leaves
Pick dandelion greens. Wash them thoroughly. Making sure all dirt is washed off. Place dandelion leaves in pot, pour boiling water, stir and cover for 3 - 5 minutes. Stirring one time. Strain dandelion greens out of tea. Pour in a glass.
Serving size 1. You can double, triple or even quadruple the recipe to make more servings at a time.
You can add lemon, orange, mint or honey for added taste.
Beneful Healthy Smile Dog Food Review
At one time I was fostering a Chug, who is the brother on my beloved Chug, Moose. I like to look for any free samples I can for them. This way they can sample treats or food without having to spend alot. Then finding out they don't like it. Moose is really picky about his treats or foods. Zues on the other hand will end anything, even shoes for a snack.
This is one of the latest freebies I have received in the mail. The freebie is of Beneful's newest addition to their dog food line and a couple of treats. The food is suppose to help promote a healthy smile, keep their teeth clean and help their breathe from stinking. It is made with real carrots, rice, yogurt, a dash of parsley and chicken. My dogs love it. They went nuts over the new food. So, I went out and bought a big bag to last all month. So, far it seems to be working. No bad breathe for the pups. As they love to get in people's faces and lick them. However I discourage this. As I do not like being licked on the face at all.
The treats were Beneful Healthy Smile Ridges and Twists. Two came in each sample pack. Which worked out great for my Chugs. I broke each and half to see how they would do. They loved these treats. they are also to help fight the tartar build up for cleaner teeth. Plus added calcium to help keep their teeth strong. These are a couple more treats I will place on the list to pick up. They past the test for my Chugs and myself, where I don't smell their stinky breathe anymore.
I really like the idea of all the new food and treats coming out for our pets. Things that help keep them healthier. I have always like serving my pets Beneful food. It may not be the most expensive food or treats out there. Nor are they the cheapest brand out there. Beneful fits very well with in my budget.
