Christmas Name Challenge

I have decided to do the Christmas name challenge. As it is all in good fun. I enjoy writing challenges like this. I know many member have already hopped on the bandwagon and written their's. I may be a bit behind, but not late since Christmas is not here yet.

S - Sleigh, I have always wanted to ride in Santa's sleigh. It looks like it would be fun.

A - Angel - I like to place an angel on top of the tree. As it represents the angels telling the three wise men about the birth of Jesus.

N - North Pole, I always wanted to travel to the North Pole as a child and see Santa's workshop in process.

D - Decorations, My decorations are still out in top of the shed. I would like to put them up soon. Hopefully my boyfriend will get them down this weekend.

Y - Yummy, I choose to use the word 'yummy' because of all the good tasting foods and desserts that get made around Christmas time. I plan on making some Christmas yummies soon.

Foods I like from A - Z

I love doing the A-Z Challenges. Today, I have decided to write foods I like from A-Z. Plus why I like them. They could be my favorite. The food could be something I like. It could be something I tried but am undecided till I try again. I never write a food off the first time I try it. As it might need a change to be prepare to my liking.

Foods I like from A - Z :

A - Apples. They are my favorite fruit
B - Banana Split. I always ordered these as an extra treat when I feel I need to indulge.
C - Carmel Apples - I use to eat these every fall at local fairs. Without all my teeth. I buy apples, slice them up and dip in carmel. It is not the same.
D - Donuts. The perfect breakfast that can be made as fattening or as healthy as you like.
E - Eggs benedict. It is a breakfast I love but haven't found anyone who can make it in years.
F - French Fries. American made. I love these but tend to avoid them as they make my blood sugars rise.
G - Grapes. A fruit I love to eat. I hate the grape flavoring in products. It taste nothing like grapes.
H - Haystacks - A combination of food stacked among hashbrowns. Topped with lots of cheese. I have also made these as a dessert using Chinese fried noodles. Topped with butterscotch mixed with marshmallow.
I - Ice Cream. Vanilla is my favorite.
J - Jelly and jams. I love trying different ones of these on toasted bread.
K - Kale. I do like this type of lettuce. As long as it is cut up in smaller pieces.
L - Lasagna rolls. One my boyfriend's and I favorite meals.
M - Macaroni and Cheese. This side dish has been one of my favorite since I was a kid.
N - Nuts. I enjoy eating all types of nuts. However walnuts are my favorite.
O - Olives. I enjoy all sorts of olives. I can't believe some of the prices to buy these.
P - Pancakes. Always an enjoyable breakfast treat. Lately I have been making pancake strips with bacon.
Q - Quail. I love Quail meat. i have not had it in almost 20 years. Not since I was with my first husband.
R - Radishes. I enjoy rashies in salads. My daughter loves to eat them sliced.
S - Salmon. I really love eating smoked salmon.
T - Tuna Noodle casserole. This is one of my favorite dishes since I was a kid. My teenage has got my love for the dish as well.
U - Upside down pineapple cake. I enjoy making these in cupcake version to.
V - Veal. I love eating veal cutlets.
W - Waldorf salad. I learned how to make my version of this when I was working underneath a chef in a restaurant.
X - Xigua. Which is the Chinese name for watermelon. It is my favorite summertime treat besides ice cream.
Y - Yogurt. This is a delicious treat any time of the day.
Z - Zebra cakes. I don't mind these every once in awhile. My kids love them as a quick treat.

Well, that is my list from A-Z of foods that I like. Most of them are comfort foods I like. Is there any on the list that you like? Or would like to try?

Halloween Food Challenge

I am doing the food challenge but doing it with a bit of a twist. I am going to foods of Halloween.

My name is Sandy. Here is my Halloween food challenge :

S - Spider brownie bites - These are mini brownie bites that are in shape of a spider

A - Apples Monsters - These are apples decorated to look like monsters with different candies.

N - No bake cookies - These look creepy on their own all year long. Give them eyes and see what appears before you.

D - Deviled green goblin eggs - You take the egg, boil it, than let it sit in food coloring to get the green crackling effect.

Y - Yellow Stuffed Jack-o-lantern - Yellow bell peppers, cut out to look like pumpkins. stuffed with ground beef, rice, tomato sauce and seasonings.

Can you come up with Halloween foods for your name for the Halloween food challenge? I dare you! It is not as easy as it sounds. However, it is tons of fun.

Mom took me out to dinner to an all you can eat diner. She places the food where they touch on the plate. Stuffs it full.

Superstition : Bird Flying in House

When my son came home from school, he went out to the kitchen. He noticed the kitchen curtains moving. So, he open the curtains to see why it would be moving. The curtains were moving because of a bird.

A bird had flew in the house because the back door was open. I have no screen door.

I did notice a big spider web in the window. I had not noticed before. The bird is now out of th house. The spider web is no longer in the window.

I posted about a bird flying in the house and going behind the curtains on Facebook.

A friend reminded me about the old superstition about a bird flying in a house or window means.

If you believe in the superstition, you would believe it means the bird is bringing death or fore telling of a death of something to come.

The last time a bird flew in my mom's house. My sister died a week later back in 1997. Two days before her 18th birthday.

I do hope the bird flying in the house was a coincidence. I think it was hungry. Hoping, it turns out to be a silly superstitious. As I don't want anyone to die.

With Halloween coming soon. This incident today just makes it creepy to think what the meaning of a bird flying in my house could mean.

That's the second flying animal that came through my back door. The other one was a bat.

Xenoglossia and X-ray vision

There was that one day that stands out as odd, as I was wheeling a patient to the x-ray room.

It was rather strange as someone started playing the xylophone. What person would play something so nosy in a hospital? Really? We must have quiet, as it disturbs the patients.

I shook my head and brushed it off not giving it another thought.

I wheeled the patient into the x-ray room. As the hospital needed to get an an x-ray of the man's xiphoid.

The man seem to have the power of xenoglossia. Yeah, I was not familiar with the word either. Never heard of it til the day when I gave the man an x-ray. I thought he was talking mumbo jumbo like most patient's do when they are under medication. He also mentioned having x-ray vision. Crazy, right?

Later that day, I realize the man had no recollection of what he spoke. When I asked him about it later. He said he had never learned another language besides his native tongue English.

It baffles my mind. As I know what I heard. have you ever come across something weird like that in the hospital?

Now the hardest letter of all to find Halloween theme words that begin with the letter "X". I had to turn to the dictionary :

Like I said, the list is not very long. How many Halloween theme words can you come up with that begins with the letter "X" ?

Cloud Covered Cornfield

Staring out the window, I see the cloud covered cornfield. I notice a cunning creature creeps through the shadow of the night.

Coming closer in view, I notice the cunning creature is a black cat. As soon as it came to view. Thecat slipped back in to the cornfield.

I imagine the cat, in its crude way of stalking. Creeps upon a cemetery. Where a cauldron filled with candy and corn. Sits in the cold of the night. Surrounded by clowns, cockroaches,cats, crows, and other creatures of the night.

As they wait for the creative costume party to begin.

Why is Halloween special to me?

I have been asked why I am excited about Halloween. Why is it special to me? When Halloween is known holiday for kids to go trick or treating.

Ya know I thought about it. That is a very good question. I am going to tell you why Halloween is special to me.

Halloween is special to me for several reasons.

1. My Chug, Moose was born on Halloween. He will be turning two years old.

2. My anniversary with my significant other is on Halloween. This year will be three years.

To others Halloween is spooky, kooky, and can be scary. To me Halloween is fun, romantic, and a blessing in disguise.

Why do I say that? My significant other is the first man to show me he really cares and loves me.

I wasted fifteen years with the last man who I thought loved me. Only because I heard the words I love you.

I have since learned anyone can tell you they love you. Only those who truly love you will do more than tell you they love you. They will show you as well.

I challenge you to write why Halloween is special to you. I dare you!

Bubbling Brew

The blinking bride bewilderingly bounced around on the blackened broomstick. As she brazenly bumped into the bumbling beast. Which was bellowing at the black cat.

The black cat bellowed that the bubbling brew needed some blue berry boogers.

As a Banshee belted out a blood curling scream. Meant for the Boogie man to boil the broken and bitter body.
