Wordless Wednesday : Spring and Easter

Wordless Wednesday is sharing a post with as few words as possible to none. Photos are encouraged.

As you can tell, there are many different ways to change or dress up your photos. I choose to use a Spring and Easter theme.

Should Food Stamp receipts be handed seeds and be required to grow a garden?

I think more people should have a garden. People who live in apartments still can have a small garden. It's possible. Plus, it will help those who need food. I plan on having a garden this year.

I want to move. So, I am placing everything in pots that can be transferred when I do move. Last year this time, I thought I was going to move and didn't plant. I won't be making that mistake again. Either way. I am having a garden this year.

I am too disappointed with the fresh produce in the local grocery stores. Lettuce that isn't green but yellow. The taste is bland compared to what use to be grown in my parents garden. Strawberries sold at a discount because they are starting to mold. Tomatoes are pale red or orange, compared to the deep red sweet juicy tomatoes. I am a type 2 diabetic. I need to control my sugar levels with my diet. I can't do that, if I can't obtain the proper foods. Gardening seems the only way I know to ensure I get what I need.

Should people who receive Food Stamps be handed seeds and be required to grow a garden? I have often thought of this question. As a garden can be hard work. It is also a helpful skill to have. many of the younger generation has no clue how to plant a garden or the first step how to take care of one.

Or should more areas participate in a community garden where anyone can have a small area to plant in? A table will be accessed to leave extra food from the garden. People can trade or swap the foods they grow to get a variety.

Baked Chicken Marinade Recipe

Sunday my family was going to cook on the grill. The night before I mixed a bottle of Baby Ray's sweet BBQ sauce with a bottle of Italian dressing. Placed the raw chicken in the mix, left it overnight to marinate.

Sunday came, we cleaned out the shed. By time we wanted to start the grill. The wind picked up and it started sleeting. The chicken was instead baked in the oven.

I took the chicken out of the marinade. Placed in a baking pan. Poured some of the marinade over the chicken. placed in oven at 450 degrees. An hour later, the chicken was done. After being turned over once.

The chicken turned out perfect. It melted in my mouth. If you want some sweetness with a little zing. I suggest mixing a bottle of Baby Ray's sweet BBQ sauce with a bottle of Italian dressing. You do not need to add anything. No salt, no other seasonings.

This only cost 50 cents per person to prepare. As I received the chicken for free. Each bottle only cost $1.00 a piece. Plus, it was a buy one get one free sale. Cheapest chicken I have ever made.

Amazon.com sells every ingrediant to make this dish.

Follow Up of what I did this month

The last challenge for the monthly challenge is to write a follow up of what I did for the month of March. I happy to announce I was able to complete another full month of the challenge.

I noticed a couple of other people wrote a few things on my list. Other than that, not much interest in my monthly challenge. It did not deter me. As I posed this challenge to myself. In order to make sure I write every day. Since, I am not currently writing on any writing sites at the moment. Except my niche blogs. I want to keep up with my writing and improve on my writing skills.

I have joined a few newsletters that will help me improve on my writings and photography. I am excited to try them out in my next months writing challenge.

I noticed many people do not like to write about holidays or celebrations. The legends or how they came about. That's cool, I get it. It is a niche for people like me. My next monthly challenge should pose more interest. As it isn't about holidays. It has all sorts of new ideas to write about. Plus, a few that require photographs. As I love taking photos. I want to get back in to taken more and writing about what I take photos of. I decided to add a gadget where anyone who takes on of the next month challenge can add their writing link. Which can be from any writing site. You may want to bookmark that page now.

Spring is finally here in my area. Now if the weather would quit teasing us, it would be nice. However, living in NW Ohio I am aware we can get snow clear in to May from time to time. I remember it snow being on the ground when I was young and in school the last week of school.

Well that is my follow up for this month. Hope to see my dedicated readers next month. Farewell my friends til next time!

Do you decorate for Easter?

I am getting some construction paper out. As I plan to create some springtime decorations with my daughter. She has wanted to make ladybugs out of construction paper and place them in the front window of our home.

With Easter less than a week away. I think I will make some decorations of bunnies, Easter eggs, and spring flowers to place in the front window out of construction paper as well. I will have to take some pictures after we are done to show off what we have created together as mother and daughter.

I really enjoy creating things from scratch to decorate with my daughter. It helps us bond together closer as mother and daughter. Plus, it gives me a chance to show my daughter how to do things she doesn't know. She is the rebellious type and loves to argue. Helping her learn how to create things on her own is a blessing.

I can't afford to buy decorations for all the holidays I enjoy. Creating decorations from scratch is a blessing and a delight. It helps me bond, be creative in a  simple way, and teach my daughter something all in at the same time.

Do you decorate for the holidays? Or use construction paper to create things with?

Do You Celebrate Spring break?

Today is the last day of spring break for my teenagers. They go back to school tomorrow. Until thursday. As Friday is Good Friday. My teenagers have had Spring break all week long.

My teenage daughter has been getting up early and going in to work with my boyfriend. She really doesn't do anything but stay in the waiting area on a tablet playing her computer games. Every once in awhile she might get curious and my boyfriend will explain what he is doing. She seems interested in learning. I have no issues with that she is a girl wanting to learn about mechanical work.

Good thing both of my teens got ungrounded today. They are both happy. As we have been watching a marathon of "The Walking Dead". That is leading up to the 90 mintue finale of season 5.

We also did a bunch of spring cleaning out of the shed out back. I managed to donate 5 large garbage bags of clothes to Planet Aid bins. I know some people don't like to donate to Planet Aid because they sent the clothes overseas and sell them cheap. In the long run, it is still helping the poor. maybe another country. However, I feel it is better than all those clothes landing in the landfill not being used by anybody.

We was going to grill out, as the weather started out nice. By 4 pm the wind picked up strong. It started to sleet or throw small pieces of hail. As it was pure ice coming down. The chicken was cooked in the oven. It was still good and melted your mouth. I'll share the recipe later on my Food With A Plan blog. I first have to run my oldest boy a plate of yummy food. He was over earlier helping sort the shed out. He deserves a homemade plate of yummy goodness.

With Spring break wrapping up with my family. I was wondering. Do you celebrate Spring break?

Easter, Hats, and Parades

A parade is a march of people one after the other, usually on a street, many in costume along with school marching bands, floats and balloons.

There are no Easter parades in my area. However, I am looking forward to watching the NYC parade on tv Easter morning. I love seeing all the different floats and people. The balloons and celebrations are a delight to watch. I love seeing the ladies dress up and wear Easter parade hats.

Now if you are going to attend an Easter parade. Be prepare to make or create a cute Easter hat or bonnet for the ladies. You can get ideas on Pinterest, KidsSpot, or NetMums.

You have the option to order many different kinds of Easter hats from Amazon.

A - Z Emotion Challenge : Delightful

Delightful is the word I choose to write about in taking todays challenge. "Delightful" means causing delight, charming, pleasant, lovely, enjoyable, pleasurable. What is not to like about the word delight?

I delight in making holiday or celebration theme plans. I delight in knowing Easter will be a small gathering of my immediate family. I will create a delightful meal plan with an Easter theme. My children, boyfriend and I will take delight in the yummy food I will prepare.

I am hoping my oldest son will be able to get his baby for a few hours on Easter. However, he has not talked to the baby's momma yet. Recently they switched to having the boy every other week. This week is his father's turn. Next week during easter will be his mother's turn.

Not sure if she arranged it. So, she can take delight in having her son all day on Easter visiting her side of the family. Or if they will come to some sort of agreement to allow my son to have his boy on Easter for a few hours to.

Either way, Easter plans will not be spoiled. As I will make another Easter meal especially for my grandbaby. So, we can celebrate it no matter what day it is. I will be delighted in creating a day for my grandson and children to spent together.

Every Friday, I will be doing the next letter in the alphabet based on a emotion. To learn about this challenge. Please click the photo below.
