I Shot A Zombie

I wrote this after my teenage son turned 15 in Oct of 2013.. He had the choice to have a birthday party or take a couple of friends to go do something together. My son chose to go paintballing at the paintball plex. The theme was zombies. We ended up getting a birthday package for one heck of a deal. Since, the place wasn't returning calls when we tried to set a date for the birthday boy. It worked out great in our favor.

It started out with a birthday cupcake cake for my sons birthday. Of course with a Halloween theme. It is the picture above. Looks pretty good. I was good and did not have a piece. Since, I have type 2 diabetes. All of climbed in our vehicles to head to the paintball plex. There was eight of us in total. My boyfriend, my daughter, my older son , and his girlfriend, one of the birthday boys friends and a cousin, since another friend couldn't make it, and of course myself.

We arrived at the paintball plex. We got the VIP treatment. meaning we did not have to wait in any of the lines. For the birthday package, we choose the inside and outside. The inside we were given guns that looked like nerf guns. We were given instructions and ushered in on how to use them and how to kill a zombie. An army man was our leader, we followed his lead. My daughter who is only 13 yrs old was very scary. As the zombies started coming out. She started crying. The army leader realized how frighten she was. He called back up. So, instead of an onslaught of zombies. We got maybe a 1/3 of it. I thought that was pretty cool. On the inside it was dark, had smoke that represented gas that would the zombies back to life. You could only shoot them in the head to kill them. Some did come back to life and would pop up behind us. Luckily, everyone in the group was a good shot and we all made it our alive. Minuses zombies.

From there we were taken out side, was able to cool off. Than taken to what looked like a shooting range. The guns were lined up. What was cool about these ones, these ones shot glow in the dark tracers. You can see exactly where you were shooting in the dark. When you seen zombies come at you. You had to shoot them. We had 100 rounds a piece. It was alot of fun. I was on the end by my oldest boy. I think he was surprised his momma was such a good shot. As I could hear him say, "Momma, good shot." When we were both shooting at the same zombie and I made a head shot. I smiled.

By time we were all done and walking out. The army leader was chatting with my daughter. She was exclaiming how much fun she had and was ready to do it again. We all laughed. As we seen how upset and scared she was at the beginning. I am proud of her, heck I am proud of everyone there. We all had a good time.

The army leader even said we did good. We were the first group to all make it out alive. As many groups did not make it out with all their members. Maybe it was because we knew it was all in fun. Nothing to be scared about. I like to think if the time would ever arise, my kids and our friends will be ready. At least ready to shoot if needed. the paintball plex was a hoot. It is something that gave my family and friends a great experience and a wonderful memory. They made my sons birthday probably the best one he has ever had.

Have you ever been shot paintballs before?

What I Am Thankful For Idea

Since, Next month will be February, where many people give thanks for their significant others and loves ones. I thought of something else that could be done as a family. I told the kids about the idea I read.

The idea : To get a large container of some sort. Every time one of the family thinks of something that makes them smile, happy or they are thankful for. They need to write it down on a piece of paper and place it in the container. Every New Year's get the container out and each person takes a turn of reading what made someone happy, smile, or what they are thankful.

One thing I would add to the container would be a note that told my son I was very thankful for the log cabin he built out of Lincoln logs. When he built it, he said,"Mom I can't afford to buy you a castle. So, I built you one instead." I smiled and my cheeks turned red. I thought aw what a sweet sweet thing my boy did for me. The photo I am using is one I took myself of castle Lincoln Logs my son built for me. Isn't very creative and sweet?

It is a nice way to say thank you to someone in case they forgot. It helps you to think of good things that happen through out the year, and what you could look forward to in the future. I think sharing a little love this way will help to strength a family together.

What are ways you do as a family together that tells each other you are thankful?

Throw Away Pets

When did our animals become throw away pets? I have been seeing it more and more lately. Even on Craigslist some of the ads just astounds me. When we take in an animal it is our responsibility to take care of it. Til it dies or if we need to re-home for some reason. Not give away because all of a sudden you got a new job. It is not like you didn't know two weeks ago you picked up the new pet you weren't switching jobs. Or you became pregnant, get a pet, than can't stand the smell. What? Really?

How do you feel about throw away pets? I know someone who is pregnant. She said she was getting a rabbit. i reminder her rabbits were expensive to take care of. That they tend to smell if their cage isn't kept clean. Or if they are confined in two small of a place. I tried to talk her out of it. Since she lives in an apartment complex that doesn't allow pets.

She picked up two rabbits for free. She asked to borrow my small dog cage til she got a another cage for the second rabbit. I said you can borrow the cage. As I plan on placing it online and selling it for $10.00. She said she planned to flip the other rabbit as it was ugly.

As all the previous owner had was a small portal cage to send the rabbits in. As she needed her cages for the other rabbits she has. She was down sizing the amounts she had and wanted to go to a nice home for free.

Three days later the pregnant person said these rabbits got to go tonight or I am letting them loose, I just can't stand the smell. I said oh no. Wait a couple of days and let me see what I can do to re-home them. She agreed.

I placed some ads. The same day I had someone willing to pick up the rabbits after I explained what was going on. I think at first the guy thought they were my rabbits. As he was trying to lecture me. I told him I was just trying to find homes so they don't get let loose. He told me how predators would kill the rabbits. I said I know I have two dogs, one has been trained to chase squirrels and rabbits. There is no way I could take them. He suggested I build a cage for the rabbits. I once again reminded him to call the number I provided to find out more. I felt he was trying to guilt me in to taking them or didn't believe me.

Luckily, the rabbits did find homes. Someone took both in. But they had to pay $40.00 for both rabbits. It has been over a week and I still haven't received the cage back. When I asked about it. I was told the person wanted to clean it first before they returned it. I said well I am waiting. I want to sell it on line. That was Monday. I still don't have the cage.

5 Things That Scare Me

Five things that scare me :
1. Heights - I am deathly afraid of heights. I look down and get dizzy.
2. Spiders - I use to never be scared of them. Til I was bit by one. I had an allergic reaction. As that spider was not considered poisonous. I felt pain my my fingertips to my under arm. My arm felt like it was on fire for three days before the antibiotics kicked in.
3. The dark - Don't laugh. I know many people who are still afraid if the dark till this day. I am slowly going blind. I don't wish to live in the dark.
4. To grow old alone - I have this fear because every man I have been with has left me for another woman. Except my current boyfriend of three years. Remember I was with my estranged husband for over 10 years when I found out he was cheating. Ultimately leaving for that woman. It makes me feel like I will never be good enough for someone to want to be with me for the rest of our lives. My boyfriend is slowly changing that feeling.
5. Old people - I don't know why I am afraid of old people. I get speechless and don't know what to say unless they ask me a question or start speaking to me first.
There you have five things I am afraid of. Do you dare to take the challenge and write about what scare you?

A Beautiful Sight Challenge

Today, I want to issue another photo challenge. As I love taking photos.
The challenge : To share a photo of a beautiful sight. Write about the photo and describe why you think it is a beautiful sight. The photo can be anything you find beautiful.
If you take this challenge, please leave a link in the comments area. That way I can read it.
That way I can find it and check out your beautiful sight.
I chose to share a photo of sunflowers after it snowed in my backyard.
I think it is a beautiful sight, as the sunflower still holds sunflower seeds. I see on a daily bases where birds fly on to the sunflower heads and get the sunflower seeds out to eat.
To me even in death, the sunflowers bring something beautiful. As they provide nature a way to eat.
So, are you up for the challenge of sharing a beautiful sight?

Those are abrasive

Here are first five things that are abrasive to me that I can think off right off the top of my head :
1. When able people do not pick up after themselves. Whether it be a simple empty soda bottle they leave behind to leaving sandwich wrappers on a table at the restaurant instead of throwing them away.
2. Restaurant employees who do not follow special instructions to leave certain foods off a sandwich, or out of a meal.
3. Someone who keeps repeating what they say, as if repeating what they say will change your mind.
4. Someone who repeatedly talks loud after being asked to lower their voice down who happens to have no hearing problems.
5. Someone who tells you can't do something but goes out and does what they tell you, you can't do.
Challenge : Write about 5 things that annoy you.

How do you know Jesus Challenge

I learned about Jesus as a child. As far back as I can remember. I can remember going to church as soon as I could walk.
I can remember going with my mom and sisters on the church bus. Than being scared because I didn't know anyone in my classroom. So the teacher had to put me in with my big sister to quiet me down. I still have the bible I was given as a small child from that church.
I know I took Jesus in my heart many years ago. Jesus is still a very big part of life.
I was wondering how did you find Jesus? Was you born learning and accepting as I was? Or did you find Jesus later in life? Is Jesus still a big part of your life? Please share your story.
Challenge : To those who love and believe in Jesus, write about how you have come to know or find Jesus.

Black and White Challenge

I decided to take the Black and White Challenge. From what I understand I need to tell the what / who, where, when, Why I chose the photo, and challenge another member to take this challenge.
I am not sure who all have taken the challenge. So, if I call someone out who has already taken the challenge, I will apologize in advance. Being called out for the challenge does not mean you have to partake in the challenge either. It is all for fun.
Who or what : The photo is of my daughter playing with our dogs and a friends dogs in the snow last year. I have a black and white feature on my camera.
Where : It was taken out in my backyard.
Why the pic was chosen : I chose the photo because my area has not been hit with a ton of snow yet this year. You can see by the photo last year my area was dumped on.
Challenge : Take a black and white photo. Tell us about the photo. What, where, when, why, and who

Advice From Momma Challenge

I was thinking of some advice my momma has gave me over the years. After all these years, the advice still rings true.
Here is some advice my momma gave me :
1.Never marry if you have any doubts at all. If you have doubts. The marriage will 9 times out of 10 end in divorce.
2.Make sure you spend time with your kids while you have the chance. They grow to fast. You will regret it if you don't.
3.Take pictures of your kids and family while you have them. You never know how long you have with each one. You will want the pictures when they are gone.
4. Don't get a pet. Unless you plan on taking care of it for the rest of its life. Which is years. Not months or days.
What advice have you received from a parent? Challenge : Write about advice you were given by your mom or someone who has raised you.
