Amazon Accepting Food Stamps

Recently I learned Amazon.com will be participating along with a few online grocery store to start accepting food stamps. My first thought was wow! What a big step!

This is on the basis to get food stamp users to eat healthier. As many families who use food stamps living in rural communities do not have access to many healthy foods. after thinking about it, I realized it is totally true. People in rural areas do not have access to healthy foods like those who live in the bigger cities. I experienced this first hand and learned a hard lesson.

I vacationed in a rural area for two weeks. I had a hard time trying to find foods that I could consume without my GERD and Diabetes type 2 being affected. The area only had one grocery store. Most of their produce didn't look too healthy or I had no clue what it was. Besides the outrageous prices for produce. I stood there scratching my head and wondering why any store would deliberately sell lettuce that was turning brown. Or other produce. I walked out of the store without buying anything.

I did try a restaurant friends were raving about. Till a huge cockroach crawled up my leg and I literally freaked out almost knocking the table over trying to get it off me. No surprise I didn't try dining there again.

Next stop to try was the few fast food joints the town offered. That was a bigger joke as we all know fast food joints are not healthy. By the time we got to order the fast food joints were closed. I am used to the hours the fast food joints stay open in my town. I didn't think they closed earlier somewhere else. The only place left to get some food was the local gas station. All the hot food was fried and spicy.

Boy was I glad to get back home to get some real food. I think the first thing I ate was a healthy salad.

My experience taught me a couple of things

1. Never travel without a cooler backed up with healthy options for me to eat.

2. Never assume an unfamiliar area offers the same food you are used to eating.

3. Learn where the nearest hospitals are before going. I live ten minutes away from a  hospital. In the rural area, I was vacationing the closest hospital was over two hours away. There was no guarantee if I started having complications from my diabetes I could make it to a hospital in time.

Learning Amazon.com would be one of the several online grocery stores to start accepting food stamps on a trial basis made me happy. As I have ordered healthy options through Amazon.com. I know a customer can get what they order in as little as two days if they have Amazon Prime. While Amazon Prime can't be paid with food stamps. Amazon does offer a monthly rate to make it more convenient for those who can't afford to pay for a full year in advance.

With 43 million people low-income people where many live in rural areas, there is a need for this. In case you are wondering, each state will be monitored to see what people buy with their food stamps. If they buy nothing but junk food. The program will fail. If the people start purchasing healthier options like the program is for, the program will expand to other states.

Do you think low-income people should be allowed to use their food stamps to order on online grocery stores?

I know not everyone will agree with my two cents. If you disagree, I would love to know why. I am an open minded person who will take all views into account of the pros and cons.

What Is On Your Bucket List?

Someone asked me one day what is on my bucket list. To those who may not know, a bucket list is a list of things you want to accomplish before you die. I had to think about what is on my bucket list. Some things were common sense to me and I didn't have to blink to know what I wanted. Others I had to put some thought into it.

Here's my 'Bucket List'

1. To see my children grow up, finish high school and make something of themselves - My oldest son is already started a family. He has a 2 yr old son. He makes great money working at a factory. My middle son is eighteen and will finish high school next year. He plans to travel to Japan and become a lawyer. My daughter is sixteen, has mental issues and struggles in school with her peers and work. I worry for her future.

2. I want to visit and take pictures of Niagra Falls - I have never been there. I have always wanted to go. I have decided if the one I am with does not want to go. I will do this on my own. As it has always been one of my desires.

3. Travel the USA - I want to travel through and visit every state in the USA. I have traveled through more states with my current boyfriend. I am slowly marking off state by state. from there I wish to travel and visit other countries.

4. To open up a free clothing store in my area - The items will be from free will donations. All clothes and items will be free to those who are poor or make under a certain amount per year. As I want it to help those who need help. To help those who live through a house fire or other type of situations. I want to work with the local organizations to help those who truly need it. Not those who wish to get stuff and resell online.

I don't have much on my bucket list right now. I may add more to it later. If not, once I cross something off. I will choose something else to add to the list.

Top 10 Blog Posts of 2016

I started looking at my stats for my blog for the past year. I started the blog in March of 2016. I have got 20,027 views. Not bad for the blog being less than a year old. I seem to get the most views from Pinterest, Google+ and Facebook. I am thrilled with my stats. As I wrote on a variety of subjects that had to do with lifestyles and creative writing.

Here is the list of my top 10 viewed post for 2016

My top post was "I Am Going To A Nude Wedding" with 305 views. I suppose some of those viewers were expecting to see nude photos. If that is what they expected, they were sorely disappointed.

Number two with 258 views was "What I Want For Christmas". I am thrilled to see so many people interested in what I wanted for Christmas.

Number three with 239 views was "8 animals Associated With Halloween". How many animals can you name that is associated with Halloween without looking?

Number four has 227 views was "31 Days Of Blogmas". I accepted a challenge to blog 31 days of Christmas. I gave enough ideas for others if they needed to blog every day and then some. I wasn't able to finish the challenge. As I was without a vehicle for three weeks prior to Christmas. It is hard to write about Christmas when it seemed my family wasn't going to have one. Yet, things worked out in the end. I am going to my hand at it again next year with new material.

Number five came in with 217 views was "Building A Gingerbread House". It was a fun project to do with my daughter. I have one to make of a doghouse yet. I am waiting for more snow to fall first. My dogs will be able to try it. As it is pet-friendly to eat.

Number six came in with 215 views was "2 things Can Kill Your Dog". This blog was created after chatting with some friends on Facebook where I learned about two things most people do not realize could kill their dog. I am a diabetic type two. when learning about the second thing it really hit home how I could have been poisoning my dog and not know it.

Number seven came in with 186 views was "10 Things To Buy A Blogger For Christmas". The best thing about this list is it will work just as well for birthdays and other celebrations.

Number eight came in with 180 views was "5 Ways to Promote Other Bloggers Without Losing Focus". Which I sincerely need to go back and update it. As I noticed tonight at least one link is not working after a fellow blogger Krammitt22 messaged me. Thank you Krammitt22.

Number nine came in next with 170 views was "Cheesy Broccoli Mushroom Soup Recipe". I enjoy sharing my recipes and talking about food so much that I decided to create a niche blog about food & recipes over on WordPress, where I plan to buy a domain and hosting next month. I will be sharing all my future tried and true recipes and food blogs there. It is called "Food With A Plan".

Last but not least number ten came in with 168 views was "October 2016 Writing Challenges". In the blog post, I give thirty-one different ideas or prompts to blog about that relate to the month of October.

I wish to thank all of my readers for visiting my blog. I hope I can keep you entertained and interested throughout 2017.

What Is A Webinar?

Webinars are very useful to share information live. I was able to attend my first webinar live tonight. I had a positive experience and do plan to attend future webinars.

What is a webinar?

It is a seminar, lecture, workshop conducted over the internet. Where brainstorming can occur. Webcasts are live. Some will record them for others to view at a later date.

Do you offer a webinar?

I have not offered a webinar yet. I do not have a mic to speak into in order to host one.

Would you consider hosting a webinar in the future?

Yes, I would consider hosting one in the future. It is a great way to show or share a bunch of information to people at the same time, the same thing. I would consider using a webinar to show people how to use an app or website I use step by step.

What do you need to host a webinar?

A microphone to speak into. Plus, speakers to hear yourself or anyone else speaking or asking questions. you need to be able to speak clearly. You need to have an audience to speak to. You need to have valuable information to keep people coming back to your webinars. If one webinar happens to be a bust. Host another at a different time.

Could I host a webinar?

Yes, you can. Anyone can host a webinar if the mindset and right tools.

Where can I host a webinar at?

There is many different websites where you can host a webinar at. Some are free. Some require a fee. You need to find one that works best for you.

Dear House Challenge

Photo by Sandy Ks aka rusty2rusty

Dear House,

Hello! I am the mother of the family that lives inside of you. I am sure you think we are a rebellious bunch that needs to move out. As you don’t like being destroyed. Or enjoy listening to the all the yelling and fighting going on. To be honest I don’t like it either.

My teens seem bent on figuring out how who can annoy each other the most. That is a typical teenager behavior.

I am sorry my daughter had one of her episodes and kicked holes in the wall. You would think being a teenager she would be over temper tantrums. When her ADHD is off the wall, she literally flips out and doesn’t know how to calm down. I and many other have tried to teach her. It seems like she doesn’t want to. Like she enjoys being angry. I know she doesn’t. She is a scared little girl afraid she is going to fail at life.

I am sorry my teen son leaves his stinky socks and clothes build up in a stack in his room. Which leaves a nasty odor leaking from his room. I am trying to curtail that. I don’t like it either. As I am OCD about those sort of things.

I am trying to get the rest of the house painted. That way you look good. I need to buy more paint. That way I can finish the living room and start in the kitchen. I need to do the laundry room as well. That will wait til spring when the walls will dryer faster.

First I need to start by removing all the spider webs all over the house. That seems to be a never-ending battle. Since it has gotten colder. The big spiders have moved back in.  One day I will clear them all. Next day, it looks like I had not started. Maybe I need to look in a solution of moving the spiders out of you instead.

I am sorry I am a bit slow at cleaning and keeping up with things. If I had more help out of the rest of the members of the family. I wouldn’t have such a hard time. Picking up after themselves would help me out in a big way.

Are happy with the new sinks in the bathroom and kitchen? Or the pipes fixed and now draining out through the pipes instead of underneath you? I love the new front door and back screen door. It does help keep the cold air out much better. The new roof makes you look like a whole new house.

Please, be patient. I am trying, can you see that?

Yours truly,
The Mother

Challenge - Write a letter to someone or something that you never plan on sending. Such as your dog, vehicle, or even a book. Be creative.
