Forepets WhistCall Review

Today, I received in the mail a WhistCall made by forePets. I have been looking forward to receiving this product. As I have two small to medium size dogs. Sometimes they listen. Sometimes they don't. I have  a fenced in backyard. So, it isn't to big of  a deal. However, I want to be able to take both out in public on a leash. Since, I can't whistle. I thought of trying this product out to see if it can help me train my dog better. Plus, one dog is smaller than the other one. I do not want the larger dog pulling the small dog everywhere. As it could injure him.

I got the product out of the package. It comes with a strap like necklace that you can place around your neck.  I found it to be a big help when training my dogs. The strap is soft, black in color with product name with a picture of a dog in white. Which is attached to the whistle with a little clip. The whistle feels like it all metal with a light black plastic piece attached. It is light weight and easy to use.

I blew in to it to see how loud it was. It was not a real loud sound or high pitch. Both of my dogs perked up and looked my way. So, I decided to let the dogs out back. I wanted to call them back in with the whistle. Regardless if they were ready to come in or not. I blew the whistle. Both dogs came running. I gave them a small treat.

The product claims to be the perfect dog training tool. where you can take control of your pet, let them know who really is in charge at all times. You can eliminate unwanted behaviors. Such as stopping incessant barking. While you teach commands and response skills to your dog.

From the little use I have tried with the WhistCall. It is working. I plan to work more with my dogs. I add an update to this post in a few weeks. So far, they are looking good.

Update : I have been using the forepets WhistCall for the past several weeks. My dogs will come when I blow the whistle to call them. They will instantly stop any behavior. As soon as I blow the whistle. I am no longer the loud neighbor yelling at her dogs to shut up all the time. This product works great as long as I keep up my part of the training.

If I had to rate this product on a scale from 1 to 5. 5 being the highest rated. I would rate this product a 5. As it does exactly what it claims. I would and do recommend this product to anyone wanting to train their pets.

Have you tried the WhistCall on your dog or other whistles to train your dog? #whistcall

Train Your Dog What To Do When It Gets Scared

Picture from Pixabay.com, a free use online photo sharing

Earlier today, I had to take my puppy to the vet. As he was hurt last night. While the vet was checking him out. He noticed Rascal moving closer to me. However, he allowed the vet to touch him. As long as he was touching me.

I spoke with the vet of how I trained my puppy to run to me when he was scared. I explained I know some dogs have a habit of darting off in the opposite direction of their owner when they get scared. I taught my pup to run to me when he is scared. That way if we were in a social situation and he got scared. My pup would look for to run to. Instead of darting off in some unknown direction and get lost.

The vet told me I did a good thing by doing that. As many dogs will dart away from the direction that scared them. It could be a loud sound. Such as : fireworks, vehicle backfiring, or a loud boom. Which could cause them to dart into the road and get hit. When the dogs run like that. They tend to get lost. Some find their way home. Others never do.

I do not know if you can train an older dog or a rescue to run to it's owner when it gets scared. However, I know it works for a puppy. As my Rascal is living proof. He is not the only dog I have trained this way. I have a fenced in backyard. It was easy to work with both my dogs out in the fenced in backyard. To see how they would react to something that would scare them. To train them to search me out when they get scared.

It's funny how many people would tell me I am making a mistake and babying my pup by teaching it to run to me when it is scared or hurt. Seems like I figured something out that could save his life. Plus, any heartache I would feel if he was hurt or lost.

How does your pet react when it gets scared?

Rascal Got Hurt : Off To The Vet We Go

I am sharing the update about the visit, Rascal had at the Vets. For those who are connected on Facebook. You should have seen my post about Rascal getting hurt last.

For those who haven't, here is a quick update about what happened. Yesterday I laid down to take a nap. My dogs were fine. When I woke up I noticed Rascal walking real slow with his head hung low. At first I thought maybe he was tired. Then I noticed him walking funny.

My daughter mentioned when she picked up he yelped. Picking a dog up should never get one to yelp. If one does, you are picking them up wrong. Or else the dog is hurt some how.

Of course my daughter was quizzed about what happened to the dog. She she drop him etc. She denied the dog was in her room at all. Her denial was found out to be a lie. As my boyfriend let both dogs out of her room.

House rule : The dogs are not allowed in the kids rooms. Why? Kids like to keep dogs in the room and not allow them out to go to the bathroom. My daughter, special needs, will not clean up a mess. Instead she will cover one up with clothes or whatever is on her floor. Since, she rarely cleans her room. It could be weeks before anything is found. So, no dogs allowed in the kids bedrooms'.

I decided to watch Rascal and see how he was doing til today. As the vet offices are closed in my area on Sundays. There is no emergency vet in my area. The closest one is over a two hour drive. First thing this morning the vet was called. An appointment was made at 3 pm.

Rascal was seen by the vet. He weighed in at 5.5 lbs. The vet did a great job of keeping him calm. As he checked him out. Rascal was back to his old self in no time. The vet didn't see anything wrong with him after giving him an examination. He thinks Rascal might of fell of the bed. He said small dogs like him get injured easier than larger dogs when falling off beds, couches and other things.

These are the vet's instructions:

1. Rascal is suppose to take some inflammatory pills for the next few days.
2. He is suppose  to take it easy the next couple of days.
3. He must be picked up when getting on or off the couch or bed. No jumping. As it could aggravate his injury. He must be picked up.
4. No going up or down steps. He must be carried.
5. he must be carried to go outside the bathroom. Picked up and brought back in. As soon as he is done.

The vet will call tomorrow to check to see Rascal is doing. Of course if he gets worse, I am suppose to take him out or call the vet office immediately.

Glandex Soft Chews Anal Support For Dogs

My box from Glandex came in. I thought about adding this review on my animal blog. Instead I think I will add it and reference to it on my animal blog instead. As I want to place all my reviews on this page for now on. As you can tell from the photo, the box was pretty big in size.

In the box was a letter telling about the product and how to order it again. A pamphlet with information about the product. A small bag with the product. That contained 18 peanutbutter chews. Plus, a pen. I do think all of this could've been shipped in a  smaller box. However, that is besides the point of this review. The letter also showed the dosage for different size and breed.

I originally found out my Dog Moose, who is a Chug was having issues with his anal glands. The vet said many male dogs start to have issues in that area from eating dog food that you can buy at the grocery store. The issue was the corn. Corn is a filler in many cheap dog foods  you can find at the grocery stores. Such as Walmart. The corn over time will cause irritation to some dogs. It is more of an allergic reaction. I had to stop feeding Moose the high protein dog food and look for something with corn as an ingredients.

I changed Moose's dog food to another brand. Where I did not see corn as an ingredient. However, I mixed it with what I had left of the other dog food. That way he could get used to the new dog food. Each night before bed, I would give Moose one peanutbutter chew. He gobbled it up. I think the things smell like medicine. I don't think if there was one for humans that smelled like that, that I could gobble it as fast as him. I would have to hold my nose. the smell is awful.

These Glandex Soft Chews Anal Support for dogs are really working on Moose. No longer do I see him digging or should I say licking his anal gland area like there is no tomorrow. The swelling in the area has went down. I would say these are working.

One of the reasons I choose this product. It is highly recommended by vets.

Premium Barbary Imperial Stout Soap Review

I ordered this soap through Amazon. As I was looking for something that other than soap you can find at the local stores. My boyfriend, teens and I seem to have sensitive skin. I have to be real careful about what kind of detergent, soap, dish soaps and such that I buy. As if I get the wrong kind. One of us, will break out. Sometimes it is a rash. Other times our follicles will become infected. Once you pull the hair out. It will heal.

This particular soap was geared towards men. My teen son and boyfriend have been using it a little over a week now. I must say the results are amazing. They are no longer itchy skin, acne, dry skin, or rough patches. Their rashes and bad follicles are healing up. It is nice to see no longer constantly itching. Their skin is starting to look healthy once again. I can not believe how much of  a change this soap has had on my boyfriend and teen son.

The scent is very pleasant. It is not over powering. I think it has an orange lavender scent. My boyfriend thinks it smells like sawdust. Like what you smell after sawing or chopping up wood. If you man or son is having skin issues. I suggest buying this soap. My teen son no longer is having acne problems. My boyfriend no longer constantly itches his skin. The rough patches and dry skin is healing up.

If I had to rate this soap from a 1 to a 5. 5 being the highest rated. I would rate this soap a 5. I highly recommend this soap.

Embarrassing Photos : My Dogs Did What?

I scroll through Facebook and see all those photos of pets that have done bad things. Their owners place a sign in front of them telling what they had done. I have two dogs that have done some not so smart things.

First there is Moose, my 3 year old Chug

If you look at the top of his head, you can see the color red. Moose is a fawn color. Not red. I heard him barking like something came in the yard that shouldn't have. My teenager runs out, grabs him and brings him in. Tells my boyfriend and I to look at all the blood. That Moose had attacked something. As the blood wasn't his. The more I looked Moose over. The more I begin to wonder. As I did not see any wounds. I tried to get photos. Moose would not look at me.

After everything was said and done. That red color was not blood. Moose had got in a sag of trash my teen son left out back by the shed. It didn't have any food. So, he thought it would be alright.  Are you still wondering what the red color is?

It was a can of spray paint. Lol. He was messing with the can. It started spraying him. He flipped out and started barking at it. Thankfully a warm bath easily washed the paint off of him.

My teen learned a hard lesson of not leaving any trash bag outside of the trash can or the shed. the dogs will get ion it no matter what is in them.

Secondly, my other dog Rascal, a 18 month old Chihuahua mix is the other culprit. He was right along with Moose and the spray paint. However, he did not get none on him.

He decided to run through the garden area, where weeds that have stickies on them have grown. See them stuck all over his fur. This is why I put clothes on him. As it helps prevent as many of these stickies to stick on him.

Rascal does not like the stickies getting taken off of him. He will fight it. Him being a tiny dog, takes two people to clean him. As they have to be taken off one by one.

I swear between these two, they can keep me busy all day. They are like little children that needs to be kept a close eye on.

Do you have any embarrassing photos of your pets?

Celebrate Having A Mutt

Today is National Mutt Day. It is celebrated every 6 months. One July 31st and December 2nd every year. The day was created for us 'mix breed' owners can celebrate our mutts. If your dog owner, you don't have to have a designer breed or a popular breed. owning a mutt can be one of the best things in your life.

I have owned designer breeds, popular breeds and and breeds that have been registered. today, I am owned by two mixed breeds.

My oldest is 3 year old Chug, which is a Chihuahua and Pug mix. A Chug is a designer breed. However, my Chug is a mutt. As his momma was a Chihuahua and his daddy a Pug. Who was bred by irresponsible pet owner. The owner claimed to be getting rid of her employers dog, female Chihuahua which later named Fawn. She had no information about the dog, nor could get it. Always had some excuse. She also lied. As with in two weeks of having fawn in my home. I was awoke by the sound of three puppies being born behind my couch.

Fawn also had an issue with men. She feared them. I had my boyfriend's, grown son and my teenage son living with me at the time. Not a good mix. I had to re-home Fawn as soon as the puppies were old enough to be weaned at 8 weeks from their momma. I was not happy about this. As with her issues, she was hard to place.

My Chug is comical like a Pug. His tail can curl or stay straight. His fur is like a Pug. Which makes him able to stay outside longer in the cold and snow. He is very vocal. He loves to play and cuddle in bed. He is also very protective if a stranger comes around me.

My other mutt is a Chihuahua mix. He was born last summer in Texas. His momma was allowed to come and go as she wanted. Sometimes being tied up. When not, she always managed to get knocked up. A friend asked if we wanted a Chihuahua mix puppy for free. They did not know what the puppies were mixed with other than a long haired Chihuahua. My family ended up getting the smaller white one. His ears are the same color as his momma. He is the runt of the bunch.

My Chihuahua mix has long hair like a Chihuahua. he acts just like a Chihuahua clear down to the occasional shakes. He thinks he is the size of a English Mastiff in his pint size stature. He has no issue sitting in my hand / arms to be carried around or be taken for a ride.

Both dogs are mutts. Both have different personalities. Both claim me as their rightful owner. Both have stolen my heart.

If you have a mutt, make sure you celebrate them today.

If you are looking for a dog, but haven't picked one out yet. Please don't overlook owning a mutt. They tend to have qualities from what they are mixed with.

Have you celebrated a 'MUTT" today?
