Winding Down

                               Photo found on Pixabay

On Halloween night the children were put to bed.
All the while wondering about the sounds they hear outside.
Was it the stories of witches and wizards that filled their heads?
Or was it the werewolves and wart filled wolf man?
Could be the sweet treats dancing in their head?
Who knows til morning breaks! Til then the children wiggle in their sleep.
Praying the worms stay out of their candies. In order to have one more bite before they go sour.
No more worries the witching hour is about over. When the winds die down the nightmares ends.
-The End.

Ulysses Butterfly

The printing on the invitation was an unusual one. One to leave me wonder. What an understatement that will be!
The invitation to the party was unique. It wasn't ugly as I expected.
The invite was to a Halloween party.
It had a Ulysses Butterfly on the cover. Inside featured a unicorn.
Claiming it will be unleashing or unmasking who the unicorn really is.
I simply did not understand what kind of Halloween party unmasked a unicorn.
Unusual as the invitation was, it utterly gave me the chills. Gave me an uneasy feeling. Feeling uneasy is an understatement.
I question myself. Should I go? Or should I stay home?
-The End.
Look at all the "U's" that could be used in a Halloween theme short story, poem or phrase :

The theme of the party was very tantalizing - Terror Town.
I had to go check it out.
As I walk in to the party. I noticed tarantulas hanging from the ceiling.
Trolls guarding a treasure chest.
Tangling tree branches through out the halls.
I noticed a torture chamber, heard a terrorizing scream, only to see some teeth rolling on the ground.
Someone in a a toga outfit tapping on a tombstone.
I seen a tiger tremble, as a troll walked past carrying a torch.
I had to see what was in that treasure chest. Why was the trolls guarding it with torches?

The stars shining bright through the approaching storm clouds.
A snake slithering through a skull laying on the sandy shores of the swamp.
Spiders hiding in the trees, stalking their next meal.
What did I smell?
The stench of something sour, strange, and sweet. The scent spoiled any appetite I had left.
Seems like something sinister is in the air. Is it something supernatural or an old superstitions meant to scare?

Here goes :

In the outer limits, out where the octopus live and give birth to their babies in swallow water.

An odd thing occurred. The ogres who make sure the octopuses have food all winter long became overwhelmed.

It seemed that a obnoxious group of owls were circling in and stealing the food meant for the octopuses.

The odor the owls were leaving behind on the oak tree was pretty offensive. As the ogres couldn't stand it.

The ogres called upon the oracle daily to bring them relief.

In mid October, the sky turned orange. As a poof of a dark orange smoke appeared.

There Was A Jaguar In Junkyard

Here is my try at writing a story with as many Halloween words that begin with 'J' :

Walking along the junkyard wall. I hear a howl coming from with in the junkyard. It gave me such a fright. I tripped over a jack-o-lantern. I looked around to make sure I was alone.
I begin wondering what that sound was. It wasn't a bark, or the hiss of a cat. What was it? I peeked through the junkyard walls to spy what could be making that sound. Looking around the junkyard. The piles of junk look like a jungle, hard to make out what the shadows are. All of a sudden I jump backwards, when I noticed a eye staring back at me. I hear that howl again. I see a large cat that looked like a jaguar jogging on by. Oh, my a jaguar in the junkyard. How could that be? I had to get in to the junkyard to see for myself. I jingled the lock on the door til I was able to get in. As soon as I opened the door. Janice, Jack, and June jumped out of nowhere laughing as they were falling over. What jokers they are. I am jealous they were able to pull another joke on me. Why I thinking a jaguar could possibly be in a junkyard is beyond me.
The end.
Here are a bunch of 'J' Halloween them words you can use to create a story :
Jaguar, jagged, jack-o-lantern, jump, jack, jackpot, joke, jokers, jester, jumpsuit, jinx, jab, jealous, jungle, jarring, jar, jug, jello, jaundice, jugular, junk, junk pile, junkyard, Jupiter, judge, judgment

How Many Halloween Words Can You Come Up That Starts With I?

I made a list of words with a Halloween them that start with the letter "I". I also created short story as my attempt to write a story with Halloween theme "I" words :

Imp, imitate, irate, infect, influence, insects, incredible, ill, illness, infest, inhuman, invade, itch, irritating, intriguing, ice, icy, isolate, insane, invisible
I could not think as many 'I' words compared to the others. I will try my best to write a short story or phrase.
"The insects thought they were invisible hiding behind the walls. As they invade and infest neighboring houses as their family grows. The insects cause you to itch and pass on illnesses. You feel isolated as no one wants to visit an insect and imp filled home. What are you going to do besides become irate? Surely you will go insane if you don't pick up the phone and call the insect patrol. There number is 888-888-8888. Call now."

That is all I can think of right now.
I challenge you to come up with a short, story, poem or phrase using anywhere from 5 to 10 words of Halloween words that begin with the letter 'I'.

*-- Halloween Rules --*

Photo ©Pixabay

1. When it appears that you have killed the monster, NEVER check to see if it's really dead.

2. Never read a book of demon summoning aloud, even as a joke.

3. Do not search the basement, especially if the power has gone out.

4. As a general rule, do not solve puzzles that open portals to Hell.

5. Never stand in, on, or above a grave, tomb, or crypt. This would apply to any other house of the dead as well.

6. If you're searching for something which caused a loud noise and find out that it's just the cat, GET THE HELL OUT!

7. If appliances start operating by themselves, do not check for short circuits; just get out!

8. Do not take ANYTHING from the dead.

9. If you find a town which looks deserted, there's probably a good reason for it. Don't stop and look around, just leave while you still can.

10. If you're running from the scary zombie, demon or ghost, expect to trip or fall down at least twice. Also note that, despite the fact that you are running and the scary entity is merely shambling along, it's still moving fast enough to catch up with you.

11. If your companions suddenly begins to show deeply disturbing behavior such as hissing, a sudden fascination for blood, glowing eyes, increasing hairiness, and so on, kill them immediately.

12. Stay away from certain geographical locations, some of which are listed here: Any New Orleans Cemetery, Amityville, Elm Street, Transylvania, Nilbog (you're in trouble if you recognize this one), the deep woods of West Virginia, or any small town in Maine, Vermont, Connecticut or New Hampshire.

13. If your car runs out of gas at night on a lonely road, do not go to the nearby deserted looking house to phone for help. If you think that it is strange because you thought you had 3/4 of a tank, shoot yourself instead. You are going to die anyway, and most likely be eaten.

14. Beware of strangers carrying strange tools. For example: chainsaws, staple guns, hedge trimmers, electric carving knives, combines, lawnmowers, butane torches, soldering irons, band saws, or any device that will harm the living.
